Job Summary
You will own architecture and key technical decisions for a small, focused team, working across a modern frontend stack (React/Redux, Type Script) while interfacing directly with the native Q-SYS platform through C++/C# components and real-time Web Socket and REST communication.
As Vision Suite extends further into the cloud and deeper into the broader Q-SYS ecosystem, you will help shape how the product evolves — both technically and as an experience.
At the Staff level, technical depth is a given; what sets this role apart is the ability to operate effectively across the wider organization.
You will partner closely with Product, work directly with stakeholders to refine and validate solutions, and bring genuine product and UX sensibility to your engineering decisions — ensuring the team builds not just correct software, but the right software.
This position is a hybrid position based in Zurich, Switzerland.
- Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Design and implement full-stack features across a modern frontend stack (React, Redux, Type Script) and the interfaces connecting it to the native Q-SYS platform.
- Build and maintain reliable real-time and request/response communication between the Designer application and Q-SYS components (Web Socket, REST).
- Contribute to and extend Q-SYS platform components in C++/C# where the product requires it.
- Partner with Product to shape the roadmap, refine requirements, and make sound trade-offs across scope, quality, and time.
- Work directly with stakeholders and users to prototype, test, and validate solutions, iterating toward the right outcome.
- Champion UX quality and a coherent, usable experience across the application.
- Help drive Vision Suite's evolution into the cloud and its integration within the broader Q-SYS ecosystem.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship through architecture, code review, and hands-on collaboration.
- Elevate engineering standards and act as a force multiplier across the team and adjacent groups.
Skills and Minimum Experience Required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant full-stack web development.
- Deep proficiency in modern frontend development with React and Type Script.
- Solid experience designing REST APIs and real-time communication (Web Socket) between frontend and backend or native systems.
- Familiarity with C++ and comfort working across the boundary between web applications and native components.
- Proven ownership of architecture and technical decisions within a subsystem, product, or team.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with Product and bring product sense to engineering decisions.
- Strong stakeholder management, with the ability to refine, test, and validate solutions collaboratively.
- UX affinity and a user-centered approach to building software.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to operate effectively across a larger organization.
- A strong willingness to learn new technologies, domains, and parts of the stack.
- Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with C#
- Familiarity with the Q-SYS ecosystem (Core, Designer, UCI, QRC) or professional AV systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms and extending products into cloud-connected services.
- Experience collaborating closely with UX/Design or contributing to design systems.
- Other
- Your Mindset
- You operate as a technical leader — you set direction, make architectural decisions, and raise the bar for the team, while staying hands-on.
- You think in products, not just features — you have real product sense and care about the experience integrators and end users actually have.
- You are a natural collaborator across boundaries — you work fluently with Product, Design, and stakeholders across the organization, and you know the hardest problems are rarely purely technical.
- You have strong UX affinity — you notice friction, advocate for the user, and help translate ambiguous needs into clean solutions.
- You validate before you scale — you work with stakeholders to prototype, test, and refine rather than assume.
- You are endlessly willing to learn — new languages, new domains, new layers of the stack; you go where the problem is.
- You care about clarity, maintainability, and doing things well.
