THE ROLE

The main responsibility of this role is the negotiation and follow upof contracts with ports and terminals in their area of responsibility and allrelevant subject matters (pilotage, mooring, towage, port authorities etc).

This also includes following up negotiations and looking at special issueswith individual ports.

YOUR IMPACT

As a Port Operations Area Manager you will

  • Prepare business analysis on port costs, liaise with Liner department to analyse potential lines changes.
  • Estimate costs and provide port / operationaland financial analysis.
  • Prepare data and documents for the contractnegotiations.
  • Main point of contactwith the Regional Operations Manager of their area to ensure that theoperations run smoothly, stay informed of any developments and quick problemsolving.
  • Follow-upof the providers’ performance as per contracts/TSA/SLA : You will prepareanalysis and operational reports, transhipment reports and port productivityreports.
  • Act as the main point of contact betweenterminals/ports and other departments.

All departments should report to youregarding any potential issues that may concern port operations.

  • Deal with thehigh-level issues regarding port operations and communicate with the managementof the terminals.
  • Monitor the terminal capacity andproductivity in order to ensure the optimal operations, to minimizecosts, port stay, and increaseefficiency.

Intervene with any day-to-day operative issues that may affectcosts.

  • TSA Terminal Service Agreements: you willreview contracts, represent the interface with terminals.
  • Main point of contactwith terminal management in case of non-compliance.
  • YOUR BACKGROUND
  • Type of requiredknowledge (depth, breadth): Extensive shipping acumen
  • Type and length ofexperience required for the position: Significant experience in the shipping industry
